6.  2004 Cartlidge and Browne Chardonnay

Cartlidge and Browne
California, USA
Chardonnay (a dry white table wine)
Wine Advocate #162 (Dec 2005)
Robert Parker 88 points
Drink 2005-2006

Tropical fruit aromas (pineapple, melons, and mangoes) jump from the glass of the 2004 Chardonnay. There is little evidence of wood in this fruit-driven, clean, pure, tasty Chardonnay. It needs to be consumed during its first 12 months of life. It is probably one of the two best Chardonnay values in the world.

7.  St. Michael - Eppan Pinot Grigio 2004

Light green lustres run through the straw color of this wine whose aroma is rich in fruits, the most striking of which are pears. An excellent acidity balance gives this wine strength and structure. It is dry and smooth on the palate, and leaves a long, pleasant aftertaste. The Pinot Grigio goes well with many dishes, especially lighter foods, to which it is an excellent accompaniment. It is served chilled and also bestows a fine taste following longer ageing.

8.  2004 Rockbare Chardonnay

Rockbare
McLaren Vale, South Australia, Australia
Chardonnay (a dry white table wine)
Wine Advocate #161 (Oct 2005)
Robert Parker 91 points
Drink 2005-2008

The 2004 Chardonnay offers up beautiful honeyed peach, apple blossom, orange rind, and assorted citrus characteristics presented in a medium to full-bodied, fruity style revealing a discriminating use of new oak. It should drink well for another 2-3 years.  This outstanding estate remains under most Australian wine enthusiasts' radar. The RockBare offerings possess all the richness one expects of South Australian vineyards along with abundant complexity, a subtle touch of wood, and sometimes a French-styled elegance.
